Roundtables

Shawnee is a great medium to large-sized unit site set back in a wooded grove above the Youth Showers. The site offers a bit more protection from the wind and sun than other sites and is great for when the weather is hot or rainy. Your group will like the proximity to the center of camp and being able to retreat into a shady shelter of the site.

Site Capacity: For medium to larger sized units
Special Features: Wooded grove on the hill above the Youth Showers
Latrine type: Classic pit-style latrine

Site Specifics

Shawnee in the Summer features:

  • 16 or 17 2-man platforms with tents
  • 2 metal framed cots with mattresses in each tent.
  • Program tarp & Dining Fly
  • 2 Picnic Tables
  • Large, open center area yielding a good amount of sunshine during the day.
  • Adirondack-style shelter
  • Has it's own latrine and washstand.

Fall, Winter, and Spring features:

  • Platforms remain in place and may be used with your own tents.
  • Water generally at site from mid-May to late October.
  • Usually accessible during the winter

Iroquois is a site that has it all! Loads of shade where the tents are located and a roomy new shelter provide plenty of cover from the sun or elements. Two distinct camping areas also allow a unit to split up between patrols, age groups, or even allow two smaller units to share the site yet camp with a fair amount of autonomy. In the off-season, Iroquois offers more shelter from chilly winds off of the Pond than most of our other sites because of its location.

Site capacity: For small or medium sized units, especially those needing to split their contingent

Latrine type: Classic-style pit latrine

Capouse is one of the old-time favorite sites at the Pond. Newly renovated in 2006, the site now has an improved drainage system, a refurbished campfire circle and a shelter with a wood floor. With 13 platforms, the site is ideal for medium sized units and joins to the Delaware Site with a short trail. Just a short walk from the Nature Lodge or the shore of the Pond.

Site capacity: For medium sized units
Special Features: Grassy center with nicely shaded woods on edges
Latrine type: Classic-style pit latrine

If you have a younger, smaller-sized unit, Lenape is the ideal campsite for you. Located just off Applegate Lane and across from the Helcoski / Handicraft Lodge, the site is centrally located and within easy walking distance of just about everything in camp. The site even boasts flush toilets in its latrine.

Site capacity: For smaller sized units
Special Features: Grassy center with nicely shaded woods on edges
Latrine type: Modern-style flush toilet latrine when water system is on in warmer weather. Helcoski's Classic-style pit latrine is used in the off-season when the water system is off.

  • 8 2-man platforms with tents
  • 2 metal framed cots with mattresses in each tent.
  • Program tarp & Dining Fly
  • 1 Picnic Table
  • Wooded open center area yielding a good amount of shade from the sunshine during the day.

Few areas or campsites at Goose Pond have the view and the setting that the Scoutcraft area has. Sitting on the far side of the Pond, the site overlooks the waters from below the bows of the fir trees that shade the side so well. If you are looking for a peaceful place to camp, this is it! No platforms, no driving into the site. Just hike in with your pack, set up camp, and enjoy camping the way it was meant to be.

Special Features: Pine grove on the Pond across from the Waterfront
Latrine type: Latrine at the Shotgun and Archery Ranges

Scoutcraft in the Summer is used the Scoutcraft Area, teaching Scouts outdoor skills of all kinds.

Wide open spaces, lots of room, and its own entrance make this site a real favorite for off-season and summer resident campers alike. Niagara sits on a bluff overlooking the causeway end of Goose Pond and has a newly refurbished pathway that connects it to the rest of the camp. If you have a really big unit or have one or two other units you like to camp with, Niagara is the ideal site for you.
