in a weekend of Cub Leader Outdoor Training at Camp Acahela...

Baloo The weekend will start with BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) which will begin Saturday morning with registration from 8:15 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. and continue until 6:00 p.m. WEBELOS Leader Outdoor Training then starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and concludes on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday and concludes on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.


You can come for just the BALOO training or for the whole weekend and participate in both BALOO and WEBELOS Leader Outdoor Training. Webelos Leaders will need to complete both classes. The cost of the BALOO training alone is $18.00 -or- BALOO plus Webelos Leader Outdoor is $30.00; Webelos Leader Outdoor Training alone is $18.00. (Note: You can take BALOO training one year and come back another year and complete the overnight section.)


BALOO is an energetic training that will cover everything you need to know to plan and run a Pack overnighter. It's more than just camping…it includes ideas for outdoor activities; games and ceremonies; information on selecting and using camping equipment; how to run a campfire program; and hands-on Cub Scout cooking demonstrations! In short, everything you need to know to make your pack overnighter a fun, successful and safe event! Besides participating in Day Camp, Resident Camp, and Parent & Pal, packs may now organize overnight campouts for boys and their families. The adult leading a pack overnighter MUST have completed BALOO training.


WEBELOS Leader Outdoor Training introduces the outdoor skills and adventures that will enable a WEBELOS leader to provide a quality outdoor experience that is interesting, educational, and fun. Included in the program are Earth Rocks, Woods Tools, Into the Wild, Knots & Rope, Into the Woods and preparing a "Scouts Own Service". Webelos leaders should complete both BALOO and Webelos Leader Outdoor Training as part of their Training curriculum.


Equipment needed for both programs is a camp chair or a lawn chair and dress for the weather. Equipment needed for staying overnight – flashlight, tent, sleeping bag, ground sheet and whatever else your own personal needs dictate. Meals for both programs will be provided by the training staff.
