Leave No Trace Trainer Course
Course Instructor: Rachael Stark; LNT ME
May 12-13, 2017
What is a Trainer Course?
Leave No Trace trainer courses are designed to instill the values of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics into environmentally aware participants. At the end of the course, trainers will have gained knowledge of the seven Leave No Trace principles, along with the values of outdoor ethics, and will have the ability to hold awareness workshops for their pack, troop, or crew.
Who Can Attend a Trainer Course?
Anyone 14 or older may attend this Leave No Trace Course. This gives youth in troops and crews the ability to hold the “Outdoor Ethics Guide" position, and adults the ability to bring the knowledge back to their pack, troop, or crew and enforce it during Scouting events, making NEPA council’s camps cleaner and less impacted. All packs, troops, and crews should have a Leave No Trace trainer in order to make this possible!
How Will the Weekend Work?
LNT Trainer Courses require 16 hours of training with a minimum of 10 hours in the field, so be prepared to be outdoors. For $45, participants will receive this, along with all materials and meals for the weekend. Bring your own tents for the weekend. Registration will occur between 6 PM and 8 PM Friday, September 9th, and the course will end in the early afternoon of Sunday, September 11th.
