The Northeastern Pennsylvania Council "Rocket Into Scouting" recruitment campaign is planned to occur the week of September 11th -17th.
Here is a brief summary of the changes we are planning for this year’s fall recruitment campaign:
- Cub Scout Packs will be holding their sign-up nights during the week of September 11th-16th. The reason we are concentrating all of our sign-up nights into one week is so that the Council Marketing Committee can promote our Scouting recruitment week to the general public in the weeks leading up to our recruitment week. By having a concentrated marketing campaign leading up to our sign-up nights we expect more families to attend your Pack’s sign-up night in September and ultimately join Scouting!
- At your sign-up night(s) during the week of September 11th-16th, potential Scouts and current Scouts will design and build 2-liter soda bottle rockets as their recruitment night activity. We are encouraging Packs to start saving 2-liter soda bottles and cardboard that can be used to build these rockets.
- On Saturday, September 17th (Rain date is the 18th), new Scouts and current Scouts will go to their local ‘rocket launch location’ (launch locations are still being determined) to launch their 2-liter soda bottle rocket using an air pressured rocket launch pad. This community rocket launch event will be a great opportunity to get the new Scout to immediately participate in a Scouting activity! There will also be Boy Scout Troops and Venturing Crews present at the launch events to run fun and educational stations about what experiences Scouting offers to our youth.
- Immediately following your Pack’s sign-up nights, a representative from your district will contact your Pack to schedule a time to collect all of your new youth applications.
it is VERY IMPORTANT that each Cub Pack selects a recruitment night or nights during the week of September 11th-16th and notifies their District Executive of the date(s), time(s), location(s) and Pack contact person(s) by your District's Membership Kick-off (see your District Calendar for date/time & location). Your recruitment night information will be listed on the back of the school flyers which will be distributed to the schools no later than Wednesday, September 7th.
