The "Rocket into Scouting" program is designed to take our Council's recruiting efforts to new heights. With a focus on fun, this program invites families to experience the adventures that only Scouting can offer. The program leverages an activity that kids love (building and launching rockets) while showing parents that Scouting will foster their child's creativity, initiative, and sense of wonder.
This year our annual fall recruiting campaign will be broken into two parts:
1. The traditional Cub Scout Pack Sign-Up Nights which will be concentrated into a 1-week period:
2. A “Rocket Launch” Area Recruitment Event which will be held at various outdoor locations throughout the council near your Pack's meeting location on:
At either the traditional "Pack Sign-up Night", or the area "Rocket Launch" Area Recruitment Event, new Cubs will make a simple “soda-bottle” rocket which they will launch at their Area Rocket Launch.

The National Eagle Scout Association wants to make college more affordable for more than 100 worthy Eagle Scouts across the country.
The window for 2017 Eagle Scout scholarships opened Aug. 1, 2016, and will close on Oct. 31, 2016.
In the 2015-2016 window, the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) awarded $640,000 in scholarships to 140 Eagle Scouts.
For the 2016-2017 window, NESA's goal is to increase the number of recipients to 150. That includes scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $50,000.
Despite some online rumors about these scholarships, NESA doesn’t have the funds to offer money to each of the more than 5,000 applicants. Less than 3 percent of those who apply will receive scholarships.
In the past, NESA scholarships were available only to Scouts attending four-year universities. Now Scouts attending vocational trade schools and other approved programs may apply.

Leave No Trace trainer courses are designed to instill the values of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics into environmentally aware participants. At the end of the course, trainers will have gained knowledge of the seven Leave No Trace principles, along with the values of outdoor ethics, and will have the ability to hold awareness workshops for their pack, troop, or crew.
Anyone 14 or older may attend this Leave No Trace Course. This gives youth in troops and crews the ability to hold the “Outdoor Ethics Guide" position, and adults the ability to bring the knowledge back to their pack, troop, or crew and enforce it during Scouting events, making NEPA council’s camps cleaner and less impacted. All packs, troops, and crews should have a Leave No Trace trainer in order to make this possible!
All newly approved or veteran Merit Badge Counselors, Scout leaders and anyone else who is involved with the Merit badge Process are invited to attend a FREE short Merit Badge Counselor training session sponsored by the Council Advancement Committee on the Merit Badge counseling process.
In Addition to presenting a comprehensive overview of the entire MB program, this session will focus on the responsibilities of a MB counselor.
